Adidas On The Verge Of Signing With Blues?

A chap at work has said his mate who works for the blues has showed him a photo of a Birmingham City shirt made by Adidas, apparently part of a presentation by the sportswear giant to try to impress Blues into signing with Adidas when the current Umbro deal expires at the end of this season. If Blues want to be marketed in Asia then Adidas would make sense. I asked in the club shop after the Chelsea game what the position was, they said the kit deal was under review.
Has any one else heard anything about Adidas?
:bluzz: :Blues:

My preferences go:

1. Adidas
2. Puma
3. Umbro
4. Nike

I love Adidas kits so much.

I've liked the kits that Umbro have made for Blues. Although Adidas would be my favourite.

I wonder if, now that Sullivan/Golds/Brady have gone, we will have a home shirt that lasts for more than one season?

Wouldn't surprise me if it was a Chinese make, that way they can be sold for less as well.

I have got to be honest, If a Chinese make means we sell Millions of shirts ( LoL maybe Millions is a bit of an over estimation )

Then Bring it on. I know first and formost it should be a sport, But if we dont really kick on with the Business Side we will never be able to compete.

If utilising China to propel us into the world stage then go for it. :) I mean come on it cant be worse than 'Triton Showers' and that shocking Dolly MIXTURE kit we had when the Kumars were in charge

Bligh me :silence:

I agree mate. I think id prefer Adidas dont really have a reason other than the Villa got a big Tick on there hovel is Spaston.

tough to call who is the bigger manufacturer. But Adidas kits are mint. I have full faith in our board in which ever they choose

Big Loves to all Blues

One thing i've never understood is why Adidas Originals dont make 'retro' kits like the ones from the 70's instead of the kits they do now. They and other Adidias Original sportswear would fly off the shelves IMO.

Although, Would any of you mind if Carson used his own Clothing Conglomorate ( Through Birmingham Intl Holdings, Formerly Grandtop )

Think about it, If he done that every single shirt that was sold would be going straight into the club. Thus utilising the fan base we have here and hopefully the new one we qre trying to attract abroad.

We all buy the shirts anyway, But as they cost a couple of quid to make, And there is knowone to pay a percentage too ( as will have been produced by carsons staff ) how much would that make for the club ?

say the shirts 30-00 and cost say 5-00 to make thats 25-00 clear profit. if we sell 15-000 shirts that will give us 375-000

hmmm maybe its not worth it afterall.

Thought i was turning into a budding businessman there LOL

Back to work Tomorrow for me then

How do we not know the original poster is just not making this up? Sounds like a load of rubbish to me, expect to see someone like Le coqq sportif or errea making our kit next season.

I was originally posting that I had heard it myself from a third party. I was asking if any one had heard anything. Hardly likely to make it up. And as for Errea, I can not see Blues going with that load of rubbish. :ball:

Well, having lived in Beijing for 3 years, plus more in and around Asia, I wouldn't be surprised if it were Li Ning. They are the biggest sportswear brand in China. With a few big name sponsorship deals in place (eg Shaquille O'Neal) they have BIG aspirations to be a global brand (ironically you can't buy their shoes in the US where Shaq plays)... I think the obvious association would be good all round and with shirt sales good for business, it may well give us an advantage in the PRC...

There's a link here with additional links in the article if you want to find out more about them: http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSHKG13709320080221

I think it would be a great idea to bring out a new away kit one year and the the following year change the home strip as opposed to bringing out two new ones each year. You hardly see any away strips being warn but im sure there would be much more anticipation for it if it was worn by the club longer.

And also be nice if the top was brought out in time for the summer holidays as opposed to the week before the start of the season

On your first point i have to disagree, at games you see thousands of shirts. Even in this weather.

Also, if you recall, when this season's top went on sale, it sold out within a week. Plenty of demand.

But i totally agree with your second point, the shirt's used to be on sale by early July when i was a kid! Much better.

I'm obviously one of the few who dont give a flying fig who makes the kit - as long as it looks okay. And even if it doesn't, I'll probably buy it anyway.

I only wear it to go to the match, so with cup matches etc it'll make about 40 appearances a season. I don't think I've ever had a Blues shirt by any manufacturer that hasn't managed to last for that long (although the Phones4u logo was a bit dodgy).
